Manufactured Home Foundation Certifications

Providing engineer certifications for a manufactured home services throughout the Jacksonville area

Purpose of HUD engineering certification

The HUD certification process, which includes an inspection and an engineer’s report, is primarily driven by the requirements of lenders and federal agencies.
  • Securing a loan: Lenders, particularly those for FHA and VA loans, require an engineer’s certification to ensure a manufactured home is properly and permanently affixed to its foundation. This gives the lender confidence that the property is a safe, long-term investment.
  • Assuring structural integrity: A licensed engineer or architect must certify that the foundation meets the specifications in HUD’s Permanent Foundation Guide for Manufactured Housing. This includes verifying that the foundation can withstand environmental factors like wind, seismic activity, and soil movement.
  • Protecting your investment: The certification provides peace of mind that the home’s structure is stable and sound. It can also increase the home’s resale value, making it more marketable to potential buyers by demonstrating compliance with federal standards.
  • Validating additions: If additions like porches, decks, or garages have been added, the certification process ensures they do not compromise the structural integrity of the manufactured home itself.

Types of Manufactured Home Certifications We Offer:

1. Permanent Foundation Certification

A Permanent Foundation Certification for Manufactured Homes verifies that your mobile or manufactured home is securely and permanently attached to its foundation in accordance with the HUD Permanent Foundations Guide for Manufactured Housing. This certification is required for FHA, VA, and certain conventional loans.

2. Additions Certification (Decks, Porches, Rooms, etc.)

If a room addition, porch, or deck was added after the original home installation, our engineers assess the modifications to ensure they do not affect structural integrity or violate HUD compliance.

3. First Permanent Location Certification

This confirms that your home was installed at its original and only location, and has not been relocated — a typical requirement for FHA and VA loans.

Our engineer certifications for manufactured homes are available for just $450 total for all three certifications, if needed. We typically deliver results within 24 hours or less. Proudly serving Duval County and the surrounding areas, BVA Home Inspections is your trusted choice for mobile home foundation inspections.
